Dr Neil Dixon (6th Dan Shin Gi Tai Aikido and 6th Dan Dai Nippon Butoku Kai)
We are very fortunate in having an excellent teacher who has over 20 years of training in Aikido and having attained 6th Dan in Shin Gi Tai has recently been awarded 6th Dan in Kyoto, Japan, by the renowned All Japan martial arts association, the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai. Dr Neil Dixon is well known in Aikido circles as a gentle giant and although he is taller, stronger and bigger than most people his techniques are always controlled, effortless and expertly blending with his oponents.
Sensei (meaning teacher) shows how to lead attacks under control to their predetermined end where no further attack is possible and leaving no physical damage to the aggressor. You may not think you are tall enough, strong enough or brutal enough to do a martial art but with aikido stature makes no difference. Sensei Neil will often perform techniques from a kneeling position demonstrating that aikido is for all statures and that its principles of balance, blending and leading do not require strength, size or brutal force. Sensei's understanding of techniques and their application has been honed over many years training with renowned masters of Aikido. His teaching is based on what really works and what doesn't. Sensei Neil is always forthright in his condemnation of techniques which may look flash but actually don't work! He has a skilled eye and a unique ability to notice exactly what a student is doing wrong, reproduce it so that the student can see their error and demonstrate what the the student should do to correct it. Sensei Neil's dedication to the art of Aikido and his generous teaching is very much appreciated by his many present and former students many of whom have gone on to reach high ranks in Aikido.
